Project: Racial Disparities in Infant Mortality

Student Researcher: Nadia Dixon


Introduction

Black people make up about 14% of the US population but make up nearly 30% of Infant. For example, in the state of Tennessee, in 2009, there were 11.6 infant deaths per 1,000 live births among the black population compared to 4.7 infant deaths among the white population.


Conclusion

Analyzing and mapping population density and infant death by state in the US confirms the statistical comparison with few outliers.
