Project: DC Crime Data and Street Cameras

Student Researcher: Josh Brashears

Research Question/Hypotheses

“Question: Do the districts with higher/lower crime rates also have a(n) increased/decreased/the same number of enforcement cameras?

Hypothesis: Districts with higher crime rates do have an increased number of enforcement cameras.

Null Hypothesis: The crime rate does not appear to have an effect on the number of cameras in an area.”

Conclusions

“By looking at the map provided, I believe the null hypothesis is correct in this scenario.

I do not believe that the placement of the cameras corollate directly with the number of crimes per district.

As an alternative, I believe it may be possible for the number of cameras to corollate with the total volumes of people that congregate in these areas.”
